Van Buren County Warrant Searches
A Van Buren County warrant search runs through five channels. The online ones only reach a case record, so work them in order.
- Pick the court by case type first, since the type decides the office.
- Search the name in MiCOURT with last name, first name, middle name, and birth year, or search a case number by year, number, and type.
- Search a citation in the state ticket and case search, known as ePAY, by county and court or by name plus ticket, birth date, license, or plate.
- Call the court that holds the file and ask whether a bench warrant or arrest warrant is current and what the recall process is.
- Use the county FOIA forms for law enforcement records, the Friend of the Court for support matters, and PACER for federal cases.
The county case page links MiCOURT and the court calendars.
The MiCOURT Name Fields Van Buren County Uses
MiCOURT asks for less than people expect and hands back case entries, not a warrant answer. The name panel takes a last name, then a first name, middle name, and birth year. The case panel wants the year, number, and type. The MiCOURT case search states plainly that its data is informational, that nonpublic information is left out, and that some convictions drop away after seven years. Bulk downloads are prohibited. A Van Buren County search there is a starting point, nothing more.

A match tells you a case exists and who handles it. In Van Buren County, the warrant question still belongs to the clerk.
What a Warrant Search Asks For
The two state interfaces ask for different fields. Knowing which one fits a Van Buren County warrant check saves a wasted search.
| Field | Where It Is Used | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Last name or business name | MiCOURT name search | Required before the search runs |
| First name, middle name, birth year | MiCOURT name search | Optional, and useful for common names |
| Case year, number, type | MiCOURT case search | Use when you already have the case number |
| County and court | ePAY ticket search | Required, so pick the Van Buren court first |
| Ticket number, birth date, license, plate | ePAY alternate paths | Each path also needs the last name |
Neither interface verifies identity. Neither is a name-check product for other people. Run a Van Buren County search on your own information, or on a relative's case you are helping with.
Why ICHAT Cannot Answer a Van Buren Warrant Question
The Michigan State Police criminal history search, ICHAT, looks like the obvious stop for a Van Buren County warrant question. It is not. The State Police criminal history page states that warrant information is not available through ICHAT. ICHAT also leaves out federal, tribal, traffic, juvenile, local misdemeanor, and out-of-state records. A county traffic warrant or a district bench warrant can sit in those gaps, so a clear ICHAT result proves little.

Note: A criminal history search covers past convictions, while a Van Buren County warrant question is about an open court order.
Van Buren County Warrant Search Results
A Van Buren County search result shows a case, not a warrant. Read the fields in order. Treat the last two as questions for the clerk.
| Case number and caption | The court file and the parties, for example 2026-CR-00431 |
|---|---|
| Court and judge | Which county court holds the file and who is assigned |
| Case type | Traffic, misdemeanor, felony, civil, support, or probate |
| Charge or filing | The offense or the matter that opened the case |
| Next event | A hearing date, or nothing if the case is waiting on a warrant |
| Status line | What the docket shows, which is not a warrant status by itself |
A failure-to-appear entry is a strong clue that a bench warrant followed. Only the Van Buren County clerk can say whether the court issued, recalled, or set it aside.

Van Buren County Warrants: Who Holds What
Five offices hold Van Buren County case files, and no single one answers every warrant question. Match the office to the case type first.
| Office | What It Holds | How to Ask |
|---|---|---|
| 7th District Court | District criminal, traffic, civil infraction, small claims, and probation files | Call Paw Paw or South Haven and give the case number |
| 36th Circuit Court | Felony, serious misdemeanor, civil over $25,000, and family division files | Ask the circuit office or the county clerk |
| Probate and Juvenile Court | Probate matters and juvenile files, which are generally nonpublic | Contact the court or a lawyer |
| Friend of the Court | Child-support enforcement and show-cause material | Use the authenticated case channels and the published phone line |
| Sheriff's Office | Agency records such as reports and logs | File the Sheriff or county FOIA form |

Which Warrants Stay Restricted
Not every Van Buren County record is open to a public search. Closed records are the main reason a name can be missing from every public system.
Key Rules:
MCL 712A.28 limits public access to juvenile case records, so juvenile warrants are handled with the court or a lawyer.
MCL 15.243 allows law enforcement records to be withheld when release would interfere with proceedings, invade privacy, or endanger safety.
Michigan trial court records standards describe sealed and held material, including some warrant affidavits.
Federal records work the same way. PACER shows no sealed documents or sealed indictments, so a blank federal search proves little.
When a Van Buren County Search Comes Back Blank
A blank Van Buren County result usually means one of four things. The case sits in another court. The record is nonpublic or sealed, the entry is not in the system yet, or the name is spelled differently than the court has it.
- Re-run the search at the other district location and in the circuit court route.
- Try the birth year alone with the last name, then add the middle name.
- Ask a clerk to search the case number or the spelling used on the file.
- Ask whether a failure to appear is noted, which is the usual path to a bench warrant.
Want a document rather than a status answer? Name the court, date range, case number, and record type. A request for everything Van Buren County holds about a person is overbroad and often denied in part.
Calling the Van Buren County Court Clerk
A short call to the Van Buren County clerk settles what hours of searching cannot. Have the name, birth date, and case number in front of you, and keep the questions narrow.
- Is this the right court and case number for this matter?
- Is there a current bench warrant or arrest warrant, or only an old failure-to-appear note?
- What is the exact process to recall or address the warrant?
- Does the court require an appearance, a filing, a payment, or a bond?
- After I comply, who confirms the recall to law enforcement?
